Trials and Tribulations

I got new eyes for Rebekah so I decided to swap them out and I took some photos of her.  Looking at the photos I realized the eyes weren’t positioned right and she just looked startled in all of them.

I tried to fix them but they have a little nub on the back and it hits against the hook inside her head and won’t go where I want them to go.  I cut off the nub on one but continued to have problems so I decided to put her old eyes back in and look for flat backed eyes for her instead.

That’s when I dropped her face first on the bathroom floor.  She’s actually fine but my nerves are not.  Why did I have her with the back of her head off, futzing with her eyes in the bathroom you ask?  Because I’m an idiot…

Etsy listings and other craftiness

I’ve just listed some reusable snack bags in my Etsy shop. They’re quite fun to make and useful at the same time.

I also made a skirt for my Dal dolls.

I like the way it hangs on her and I think it’s a great length. It’s fully lined and closes with Velcro though I do want to start making clothes that use snaps as closures instead.

I had sand matted my Blythe “Raspberry Sorbet” doll’s face and didn’t realize her make up would come off as easily as it did so there was a slight lip incident. This weekend I repainted her lips and I think it turned out ok.

The hat she’s wearing was crocheted by my good friend Shelley. Shelley and I were roommates in university and lost touch for a few years. We reconnected and I couldn’t be happier about that. If you want to check out her Etsy shop (or contact her to make you your very own doll or child sized hat) you can find her here.

I also finished a closet for the dolls. It’s rather narrow but for now it’s a place for me to put some of their clothes. I’m waiting on more hangers though I really should figure out how to make my own.

As you can see, the tiny dollhouse is really overcrowded now. That means it’s time I start working on “Project Dollhouse”. A big house for the big dolls and that gets them out of the smaller house and I can work on decorating that up as well.

Vintage suitcases

This old suitcase used to belong to my great aunt. I’m trying to figure out a creative way of making it into a doll carrier without destroying the awesomeness that is this vintage suitcase. I may end up leaving it alone and hunting down a vintage suitcase that didn’t belong to anyone in my family so I don’t have to worry about guilt issues.

I thought I might find some tutorials out there from people who have done the same but I don’t seem to be turning anything up so I guess I’ll just have to improvise. Eventually I’m going to try my hand at making doll clothes and if I figure it out and I’m any good at it, I’ll probably start listing some on Etsy.

All things in due time. For now I’m just having fun trying to figure out a living situation for these guys.
