I’m currently in the process of trying to move a LOT of media onto a new external hard drive. My few months old 2TB external has started making the clicking noise of death. So far, knock on wood, it’s still going and I’m hoping I can rescue all of the files before it finally kicks the bucket.
After a lot of failed attempts at visiting my friend, I finally managed to get there. That means I can finally post photos of my very first completed quilt.
And here it is again, with its intended recipient.
And one more photo for good measure.
I can’t even describe how much love I have for these children.
As for the quilt itself, the pattern comes from Sew 4 Home. I liked their version so much that I used the same fabrics. I used 1 charm pack of Whimsy from Moda, as well as Moda’s Bella Solids in Snow for the border and Celery for the binding. The backing is Whimsy Words in milk.
I’m pretty proud of my very first quilt. I machine quilted it but I hand sewed the binding. I have to say, that took a really long time! I’m hoping to get over to a local fabric shop and sign up for their hand quilting class sometime soon. Then I may have a go at that on another quilt though I can still feel the ache in my fingers from that binding so who knows!
I saw a charm pack I really liked on Etsy the other day and I bought it. Then when it arrived I went to leave feedback for the seller and realized that I’d apparently bought it twice. It’s a sad thing when the mind goes. So whenever the second one arrives, I’m going to look for a quilt pattern that uses 2 charm packs. It’s Central Park by Kate Spain for Moda. If anyone out there in cyberland is reading this and knows of a nice quilt pattern that uses 2 charm packs, by all means let me know!
