I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before or not but something that I’ve found frustrating on my hunt for free patterns is that a good majority of the baby clothes tell me to either “measure my little one” or base my pattern off of an item of clothing of “my baby’s”. Well that’s all well and good for mama sewers but guess what? I don’t have a baby. I do want to make baby clothes though. No one seems to consider that maybe some of us want to make gifts for friends and family or even make to sell. It would be nice if some of the people who are providing free sewing patterns/tutorials would actually include the measurements along with suggesting I measure my own (non-existent) baby. I’m not going to go out and buy baby clothes so that I can use them to base patterns from and if you’re making a gift and want it to be a surprise, asking someone to borrow an item of clothing that belongs to their baby is a little strange!
I love that people are so willing to share, I really do. I just wish some of those moms with sewing blogs would realize that not everyone reading their blog is a mom and throw a little love our way!
This post has been brought to you by a search for a nice pattern for baby pants!
